It isn’t so special in that they each have solo albums, but that almost every solo album is on a different label than the “Wu Tang Clan” as a whole, and yet each solo member has RZA-produced tracks, and liberally uses the Wu Tang logo and brand, and features guest appearances by the other members in spite of them being solo artists on other labels. RZA truly chose himself and his crew, and said “we’re doing it this way; you can jump on board and support it, or you can sit on the sidelines while someone else gets rich with us as our partner.”

And then he did it. Because he’s a flippin’ genius.
