Having it "work out" is over-rated. Ask the GM factory worker who has the same job "work out" for 40 years (shoot me now!). I would rather fail at a thousand cool ideas/challenges, than have a shit job work out...

James:

Please don't take this wrong. Most things in my life have worked out. Especially the most important things.

I just want to remind folks that things CAN work out. In a big way.

I believe that if one goes around thinking that things will work out, things are more likely to work out. And more important than that, one will be happier.

Amazing article, by the way! That really worked out.

This reads like my life too. Jumping from one thing that didn't work out to the next. At the end of it all, nothing to show. I guess being successful in life doesn't mean lots of material things but a serious of many failures successfully overcome... and then move on.

Wow... man you have lived like three or four lives. How do you do it? Most things for me didn't work out as well (surprise) but I could probably only fill a paragraph if I were to list them. I'm impressed!

James, this is the first post of yours I have read and I am astounded by its depth. Still, I wonder if you are so focused on the "not working out" part of every endeavor that you don't see all you have achieved in the process. It's not what you get in the end that makes your life a success but all the things you've put your heart and soul into. And you've put yours into many amazing things. As someone who suffers from all the usual "why write no one will read it anyway?" self-sabotage garbage, I have to say that at least you have DONE something. In the end what's important is the process and not the lack of a prize. Besides, it's always the real geniuses that get short shrift in this world. No one gets what they really deserve. It's often a matter of luck and those who have the most "didn't work outs" are often the people who deserved to have them work out the most. Sometimes when you are so focused on doing the right or best thing you don't position yourself right politically so the prize will always elude you. But what's the prize worth if it's all about politics anyway? Keep on getting up and trying again and writing about it. You're an inspiration, man!
