Wow, James, outside of the humor (burst out laughing several times), some great truths in here, the one that made me go wow, "You need magic at some point to know an idea is good. What’s magic? It’s that feeling you get when everyone is writing you saying, “I can’t live without this website.” It’s that feeling you get when even you think, “I can’t live without this website.”

Gonna remember that, thanks!

okay - I will bite...
challenge to find truly original ideas - this is the note pad idea - writing 10 per day - fun but tough even when they begin to flow ...
Business is basically - simplistic I know but
Services
Products
Components for someone else to use
Investment in others -
Most businesses fall into one of the above - this along the lines of JA's previous 3 things to succeed.. Simple - youself, things and others - narrowing

The supposition that completely unique ideas are at best difficult. - is not defeatist but rather pragmatic. Why not work off the the blueprint of something that is already proven? Tweak it - twist it - make it yours This is the challenge - find a missing component but use the building blocks that are in place...
Don't do it but for shame for discouraging others.. I don't design buildings with new materials - rather I am using the same building blocks that have been in place for years, centuries and millenia (dirt) - but I tweak 'em, use em to fit a new need.....certainly I can not predict its shape after an earthquake but it will be constructed again using something that was in place and ready to use many years before (caveat - seismic research ongoing and necessary - but parts are the same, equations unchanged)
apologies - but this was off the cuff - not much thought - back to work now...soon back to play time..
